The Maryland State Climatologist’s Office (MDSCO) resides in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at the University of Maryland; it was established in the 1980s. Its mission is to 1) provide climate information services including data; 2) investigate relationships between climate and human activities that impact the State; 3) develop products and services to educate Marylanders on current and emerging climate; 4) monitor current climate conditions and place events in historical perspective; and 5) support the Maryland Mesonet Project.
