TS Fay developed from Tropical Depression Six in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico.

Track of Fay on 6 day average SST image of Gulf of Mexico from 4 September (345 Kb) This image represents the average composite sea surface temperature (SST) data derived from NOAA satellite AVHRR data over 6 days ending 4 September 2002. The averaging is done to remove clouds. The temperature scale for the SST is 27C to 32C. The track of Fay is overlaid on this image.
