Hanna developed from Tropical Depression Nine in the Gulf of Mexico.

11 September (350Kb). This image represents the average
composite sea surface temperature (SST) derived from NOAA satellite AVHRR
over the 6 days ending 11
September 2002. The averaging is done to remove clouds, although in
this case the region was so frequently cloudly that some clouds (white)
remain. The temperature scale for SST is 27C to 32C.
